Materials & Finishes

What materials does Maison Shu jewelry use?

Materials vary by style and are identified on each product page. Many pieces use 925 sterling silver. Selected styles may also feature freshwater pearls, mother of pearl, shell, cubic zirconia, glass, enamel, or natural and decorative stones. Always refer to the individual Product Details for the most accurate composition.

What does 18K gold-plated sterling silver mean?

It means a layer of 18K gold has been applied over a 925 sterling silver base. Gold plating is a surface finish rather than solid gold. It naturally changes with wear, and its longevity depends on exposure to water, fragrance, lotion, perspiration, chemicals, and abrasion.

Why can sterling silver darken?

Sterling silver can naturally tarnish when it reacts with air, humidity, skin chemistry, and household products. This is a normal characteristic of silver, not necessarily a defect. For unplated sterling silver, use a suitable silver-polishing cloth gently. Avoid abrasive silver cleaners on plated, pearl, shell, enamel, or stone-set pieces.

Are natural pearls, shells, and stones identical?

No. Natural materials can vary slightly in shape, color, markings, luster, and texture. These variations are normal and make each piece individual. Product photography represents the overall design rather than an identical natural pattern.

Is Maison Shu jewelry hypoallergenic?

Sensitivity differs from person to person, so Maison Shu does not guarantee that any jewelry is allergen-free. Review the listed materials before purchasing. If you have a known metal allergy or significant sensitivity, consult a qualified medical professional.

Cleaning & Everyday Care

How should I clean my jewelry?

After wear, gently wipe the piece with a soft, dry jewelry cloth. Do not soak plated jewelry, pearls, shell, enamel, or stone-set pieces. Avoid ultrasonic and steam cleaners unless a qualified jeweler confirms they are suitable for every material in the piece.

Can I wear it in water or while exercising?

We recommend removing jewelry before showering, swimming, exercising, or sleeping. Salt water, chlorine, perspiration, heat, and friction can accelerate tarnish, wear plating, and affect delicate natural materials.

How should I store it?

Store clean, dry pieces separately in a pouch or lined jewelry box, away from direct sunlight, humidity, and household chemicals. Fasten necklaces before storage to reduce tangling, and keep harder stones away from softer pearls and plated surfaces to limit scratching.

Sizing, Gifting & Orders

How do I choose the correct size?

Measurements and adjustment ranges are listed in each product’s Product Details. Adjustable jewelry should be moved gently and only within the stated range. Repeated bending or force can weaken the metal.

Does my jewelry arrive ready for gifting?

Maison Shu orders include signature gift packaging unless otherwise stated. Each order is reviewed and prepared before shipment.

Where can I find shipping and return information?

Please review our Shipping Policy and Refund Policy for current processing times, delivery estimates, eligibility, and return instructions.
